Touch

"Don't touch me!" But I was preverbal and it's remained unspoken. But it hasn't stopped; it's been convincing: "Don't allow anything to touch me!" The world has been convicted. Threat can't be survived. But Invasion is deceptive—it's trying to help. To the defenseless there's no forgiveness. "Don't stop touching me!" The touch was addictive, Though the sensation was unspeakable. That it was forbidden, wasn't understood. That it was caring, was a deceit. Shame was insidiously insinuating itself. It would eventually dominate, Contaminating all sensualizing. "Remain in touch with me!" I don't know why it felt necessary. Separation felt abandoning. Severation felt annihilating. To need is dependent. I'll be independent. With others, I'm a child. Alone, I'll be my own man.
